The practice will end on February 5 at which time the monks pass through the assembly with a tray of tsampa. Participants grab a hunk of the dough, rub it on themselves, thoroughly drawing out negative energies. If you are new to the monastery - make sure to watch what others are doing in the temple. The author of this news item once bit into a chunk of the dough, not realizing it was not for eating!

Monlam Chenmo
8-12-2134, 8:30 AM (16 January, 2008) Bodhgaya, Bihar. His Holiness Penor Rinpoche and Namdroling Monks have been attending the prayers at Monlam Chenmo, the Great Prayer Festival, in Bodhgaya north of the Monastery in India.
We've had the great blessing and good fortune to have been sent cellphone snaps of His Holiness at this gathering.
The video below, shot by Tulku Ajam Rinpoche's team, shows the system the monastery uses for managing to get the large population of monks from Namdroling to India.
This was done in December 2007 to make sure everyone had their tickets organized.
Tickets are assigned based on each monk's school ID card. Everyone who joins the population at Namdroling is issued an ID card and ID number, all recorded in a database.
In this case, the monks are being issued spending money and train tickets to travel to Bodhgaya. Here is where Bodhgaya is in India. Use the " + " to zoom in; click on satellite to see satellite imagery.
In the future, we plan to undertake fundraising so that you can participate in the great blessings of Monlam Chenmo by supporting the food or train tickets. Write to us if you are interested in this program.
