In May, His Holiness Penor Rinpoche and the accompanying party of monks gave empowerments and teachings in Bumthang at the invitation of Her Majesty Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuk, Queen Mother of Bhutan. The ceremonies were attended by upwards of 20,000 people at the main temple in Bumthang District. According to the Bhutan Broadcasting Service, schools were given half-day off on 11th day of the third Month (Monday, May 12). The Eight Heruka Drupchen according to the Longchen Nyingthik cycle will be commence on the third day of Saga Dawa, the fourth month (June 3) lasting until the 15th day.
